Orange Shirt Day!

This Friday September 30th is the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

You may not know, but Orange Shirt Day started in Williams Lake in 2013, and has now spread across Canada as part of our understanding and action plan to right the wrongs of what occurred during the time that First Nations Students were placed in Residential Schools.   However, the greater theme is Hope and Orange Shirt Day represents that Every Child Matters and deserves to be treated with respect and caring as they grow into adults.  To that end, the GROW Centre had an online Presentation on Thursday September 29th at 11:00 am.

The content covered was:

  1. Introductions
  2. What is Orange Shirt Day?
  3. Reading of the Book – “I Hope”
  4. Why Everyone is Important!
  5. Phyllis Webstad - Watching of a Video on Orange Shirt Day and why it is important for Canada
  6. What Activity can you do for September 30th?
  7. Conclusion

The Meeting was recorded - please see the link to the Event Below to Watch the Presentation.
