Dear Students and Parents/Guardians of GROW:
RE: GROW for 2023 – 2024
Starting September 2023, GROW servicing grades Kindergarten to Grade 7 will be moving to Lac La Hache Elementary from their Williams Lake location. To that end, please note the answers to questions you may have:
Where will the teacher(s) and Principal reside?
Given the move to Lac La Hache Elementary, the teachers and the Principal of GROW will be located in Lac La Hache Elementary, and the GROW location in Williams Lake will no longer be open.
When will I know who the Principal and teacher(s) are for GROW for September 2023?
Staffing is an ongoing process that occurs every year, and changes to staffing can be expected. The staffing process is underway now for the Fall. We hope to announce the Principalship this week (May 15th to 19th).
Will the GROW program change?
As with every new year and all schools in general, the Principal works with the staff to determine the academic programming and the delivery of service. One can expect some changes, but generally there will be continuity between the levels of service and programming enjoyed this year into next year and any changes will be communicated to families by the administration and staff.
Will resources change?
All the current resources (textbooks, workbooks, activation packages etc.) that students used this year will be transferred to GROW’s new location at Lac La Hache Elementary.
How do I communicate with my Teacher and Principal?
As GROW is a distributed learning program, the use of Teams and other communication methods currently in use will continue.
Can I still visit GROW in Lac La Hache?
Yes, the Principal and Teacher(s) are still just as accessible for in-person visits, but they will now reside in Lac La Hache Elementary along with all the resources and programming opportunities that an elementary school and the Cariboo Regional District Library (which also resides in Lac La Hache Elementary) provides.
How do I get my resources?
As occurs now, each student/family is different, and delivery methods are based on what suits the family preference and can be determined in September if changes are requested (digital communication, Canada Post, interschool mail, or pick-up and delivery at GROW itself).
When will I receive my student registration package for the 2023 – 2024 school year?
The registration package is completed and will be delivered to all families before the end of May via their preferred delivery method.
When will I receive my Student Learning Activation Package for the 2023 – 2024 school year?
The Student Activation Learning Packages will be sent to all families as soon as the registration package is returned to GROW. In this manner students can begin to complete the activation package before September 2023.
Who do I contact if I have questions?
Contact me directly either by email (ken.matieshen@sd27.bc.ca) or phone call (250-305-7955) if you have any questions concerning this change.
Sincerely,
Mr. Kenneth Matieshen District Principal of Information Technology Principal of the GROW ProgramCariboo-Chilcotin School District No. 27
